2010 Winter Olympics Volunteers

“How can I volunteer for the 2010 Games?” is one of the most popular questions received by the Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC). As we develop the formal volunteer and recruitment program over the next few years, this website will provide updates on how you can get involved.

VANOC will require an estimated 25,000 volunteers to help run both the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, in dozens of functions ranging from Accreditation to Venue Operations.

Due to the high level of interest in volunteering, we will not be able to offer everyone a volunteer position. Much like applying for a job, there will be application screening and an interview process in order to best match prospective volunteers with the available positions.

Volunteers will have to make a minimum commitment of hours. At previous Games, preference was given to those who were able to commit to work the duration of the Games. This would be a total of 27 days, in addition to training and orientation requirements.

While some volunteer positions call for specific skills and experience, many will need only enthusiasm, dedication, and a commitment to VANOC's values of Team, Trust, Excellence, Sustainability, and Creativity.

Prior experience as a volunteer is not a necessity, but VANOC does encourage everyone to make a difference in their community by volunteering at sporting events, cultural festivals and other community events in the years leading up to 2010.
