Early Season Form

It’s that time in the year again to blow the dust off the golf clubs and do our best to forget about those bad swing habits that popped up the year previous. Early in the year is a great time to develop some solid swing habits for the season to come. One of the biggest problems we as golfers encounter at the beginning of the season is a bruised ego. The ball rarely goes as far and straight as it seemed to at the end of last year. A simple drill to start the season off on a positive note is to hit balls with your feet together.

Instead of trying to hit a range ball over the centerfield wall, try a three-quarters swing with your feet together and focus on hitting solid shots and staying on balance. This drill will eliminate a lot of unnecessary body movement in the golf swing creating more consistent shots. It’s also a good way to loosen up the golf muscles so we don’t wake up the next morning feeling sore and stiff. It may take a little while to get the hang of hitting shots with your feet together but keep at it. This drill will probably pay off with straighter, more consistent golf shots; improved rhythm……..and it might even go a little farther. Have fun and play well!!
